1970s French Couture Green and White Floral Cotton Maxi Dress
Description
An outstanding 1970s French couture maxi dress which would make a grand statement at a formal event or summer party. It combines florals and stripes into a bold tonal pattern with the colour palette made up of emerald green, forest green, lime green and white. The fabric is a medium-weight mousseline cotton which has been starched to hold its shape. The dress has a fitted bodice with a straight-across neckline and thick shoulder straps in emerald green cotton. The skirt is full and is heavily box pleated at the waistline. It is lined from the waist with a separate muslin petticoat with a double-layered hem to add weight and support the skirt. The torso of the dress backed in a white acetate/viscose blend for modesty. There is a hidden tonal green zip at the rear and hook-and-eye clasp.
Superbly made by hand with couture construction throughout, this dress has frustratingly lost all its labels. In truly excellent vintage condition with no faults of any note. The colour and condition is as vibrant and fresh as the day it was made. The fabric has no stretch and we estimate this will fit up to sizes UK 8-10, US 4-6 with a small waist.
