1970s Christian Dior Red Silk Chiffon Gown With Bow Detail
Description
This sensational demi couture 1970s red silk chiffon evening gown is by iconic brand Christian Dior when celebrated designer Marc Bohan was at the helm. This show stopping piece is comprised of a silk lined chiffon slip and floor length chiffon overlay with a sweeping train and is every bit a red carpet gown. The slip is a simple cut with a small V neckline at the front, and deep plunging V at the reverse. The overlay is a single stretch of chiffon with a singular seam at the centre reverse, artfully draped around the shoulders to form an Art Deco style cape with full batwing style sleeves which taper dramatically towards the floor. The dainty cuffs are tapered to the wrist and secure with a single button on each side. The generous fabric is gathered symmetrically either side of the neckline and stitched into the slip at the centre bust where it is arranged into a chiffon bow. The chiffon falls away following its own natural line into soft symmetrical folds. It is stitched at the reverse of the gown into the plunging V of the slip, elegantly revealing the back and shoulders. The results are breathtaking. There is a concealed zip fastening at the reverse below the waistline which secures at the top with a hook and eye. This magnificent piece is of superb quality, in excellent vintage condition and absolutely guaranteed to turn heads. We recommend the dress would best suit a US size 4-6, UK size 8-10.
