Description

David Silverman had a shop on London’s Great Titchfield Street in the ‘60s and ‘70s where he sold his flamboyant dress designs. This floor-length gown is tailored from semi-sheer cotton adored with exotic birds including, peacocks and bold botanicals in rainbow hues. Distinctly ‘70s in shape, it has a kaftan-style top with fluttering, rather dramatic angel sleeves and a ruffle-trimmed skirt. A hidden zip closes the back of the dress and the label reads "David Silverman - Made in England". This is hands down the finest example we have ever seen from this designer who excelled in these breezy empire line designs that suit everybody. In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The cloth is still as vibrant as when it was made half-a-century ago. Fully lined in rayon / acetate, this dress will fit a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 and would suit a smaller bust. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in / 163 cm, this dress was a little big on the bust with room to spare in the waist and hip.
