1970s French Couture Navy Rose Print Dress
Description
This is a couture made French dress from the 1970s. The label reads La Femme Chic Place de la Basilique, St Quentin. The dress is beautifully made by hand in a classic floral print muslin cotton that is light and floaty. The dress is fully lined in acetate and has very feminine details like billowing sleeves and dainty buttoned cuffs. The scoop neck has an additional overlaid panel to support the shape at the neckline. The skirt has box shaped pleats and retains its original tie belt. Warm yellow, light orange and green floral print on a navy base make this a striking rose print. What is interesting about the roses is that they are graduated in size towards the bottom of the skirt and the sleeves, while a second coordinating swatch of fabric has much smaller flowers and a more abstract look. The whole thing reminds us of something you'd wear in Provence in the summer! It is in absolutely beautiful, barely worn condition with no faults of any note apart from the inside label having a tear. The dress does up at the back with a concealed original French made zip. The dress can be worn by up to size UK 12, US 8 and for those with a dainty waist or a smaller size this would look perfect cinched in with the matching fabric belt.
