1970s Givenchy Novelle Boutique Red and Green Plaid Blouse

Early 1980s or very late 1970s Givenchy Novelle Boutique pussy bow blouse from the designer’s ready-to-wear collection first debuted 1954 with this line produced from 1971. The fine quality silk fabric features a chic red, black and green plaid that lends well to the holiday season. The blouse ties at the neck with a large generous bow tie and there is a concealed button stand hidden behind a placket the closes the blouse down the middle front. The sleeves are pleated at the cuffs creating a flattering oversized sleeve silhouette. In fabulous vintage condition with no issues and would fit a range of sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
After attending art school, Hubert de Givenchy worked for several important fashion designers in Paris. He opened his own design house in 1952 and was immediately praised for his chic, feminine designs. One of Givenchy's most famous affiliates was actress Audrey Hepburn, who wore his designs in Breakfast at Tiffany's and Charade, among other films. Givenchy continued to design for decades, officially retiring in the mid-1990s.
