Description
1970s Marcel Fenez by Roland Klein accordion pleat dress. The fabric is a manmade georgette and has a pretty floral spray design of lilac and French blue, and lime green foliage against a white background. The bodice is a crossover shirtwaister design and the skirt falls just below the knee. The fabric, save for the sleeves, has been heat treated into accordion pleats. The Raglan sleeves are double cuffed with fabric covered buttons. The sleeves are left sheer while the bodice of the dress has been lined in a quality acetate. The collar has been designed into the crossover portion of the dress, where it has been left open to form a keyhole design.

The dress retains its original fabric belt and fastens to the rear with the original nylon zip. The dress itself is in beautiful vintage condition with no faults. We note, as very often is the case with vintage dresses, the belt shows some markings as this has not been dry cleaned to the same degree as the dress. It could be hand washed; we have left as is as the dress works really well without the belt. There are two side threaded loops to keep the belt in place and these can be cut off if desired. Best fit for around a UK size 6 - 8 or US 2 - 4.

Notes on Designer: Roland Klein designed for various French fashion houses including; Christian Dior, Jean Patou - whilst Karl Lagerfeld was head designer, Marcel Fenez, and finally in his own name from 1979. Klein designed clothes for Diana, Princess of Wales throughout her time in the public eye, including one of her favourite outfits, frequently seen at polo matches and informal occasions from 1981 to 1987 - a trompe l'oeil jumper decorated with rhinestones.
