1990s Chanel Gold Chain and Pearl Necklace
Description
1990s Chanel large simulated pearl and gold chain link necklace. From the time Karl Lagerfeld and Victoire de Castellane were the creative directors for the House in fashion and jewellery respectively. This single strand sautoir simply slips on over the head and has a gold plated and engraved authenticity cartouche stamped Chanel, Made in France. Season '29' corresponds to 1990 as the year of manufacture.
This necklace is in superb vintage condition overall. Early Chanel jewellery was always 24ct gold-plated and this looks remarkably fresh and untarnished. The faux pearls are shiny with very few marks. With glass baroque pearls, the nacre often becomes scratched, pitted and flakes off but here there is only minor scuffing to the nacre of one of the pearls. One for the fine collector of costume jewellery and early Chanel pieces.
