Yves Saint Laurent Ruched Black Silk Evening Gown, UK10

A quintessentially glamorous long evening dress by Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in finest black silk, from the personal collection of costume designer Sandy Powell.

This incredible dress is pure timeless Hollywood: given by Tom Ford to Julianne Moore, who in turn passed it on to Sandy.

It is made of stretchy black silk for a tightly fitted silhouette, floor length,  with a long slit up the left side. 

With a high neck, the central bodice panel is delicately pleated and ruched to the waist in a pyramid shape front and back,  falling straight to the ankle. The sleeves are semi sheer, elbow length, and ruched, fastening with delicate hooks and eyes.  Small concealed  zip at the neck and under the arm.
