Description

This desirable 1970s Biba dress is presented in superb vintage condition. Tailored from a Cadbury's purple jersey, it has held its colour and is as vibrant as the day it was made, over 50 years ago. This dark gold fabric label was the second Biba label and only in use from 1970 to 1972. It coincides with the previous owner's history that she bought it for her 18th birthday party in 1972!

The top of the dress is tailored to a wrap-around style which hugs the waist and contrasts the flippy, flared skirt. The waist is secured with fabric ties on the inside and a hook-and-eye on the outside. There is a removable belt tailored from coordinating fabric which has a chunky circular purple plastic buckle. The dress is detailed with padded quilting at the shoulder created with tonal stitching. It is unlined.

This piece really belongs in a serious collection or museum as often Biba clothing was loved and worn to death by its owners! Condition wise, this is in truly excellent vintage condition and is well preserved with no flaws of any note. There is no composition label. The fabric has some stretch so there is a little movement on the below measurements. Best suited to a UK 8 or US 4 and smaller with plenty of room in the hip.
