1990s Chanel Gold Logo Embossed Chain Necklace in Original Box
Description
This chunky Chanel link chain neckline was designed circa 1992 by Victoire de Castallane who served as the lead designer for Chanel's costume jewelry for approximately 14 years alongside creative director Karl Lagerfeld. The chain is formed from large gold-plated metal rings with a hammered, organic surface texture. The rings are detailed with embossed double-C logos on both sides. The chain closes with a large spring ring clasp. There is an oval cartouche hanging from the chain that reads “Chanel Made in France” alongside the copyright symbol, double-C logo and number “29” which indicates it is from the 29th season. Chanel started to attribute the seasons by date in 1993 so this was one of the last pieces made under the old numbering system.
The necklace is excellent vintage condition with no rubbing to the gold, however the oval cartouche has oxidised. Chanel do re-plate these earlier pieces; however, the cartouche is detachable so the new owner may prefer to just remove it and keep separately while the piece is in use.
