1950s French Cream Silk Pintuck and Lace Slip Dress
Description
Vintage slip dresses are highly collectable and this is a truly lovely high-end example. They are prized for their wearability and the luxuriousness of the fabrics as well as the simple grace of their silhouettes. This slip is by Albine and was made in Paris during the 1950s. It is crafted from the palest cream silk and trimmed at the bust and around to the rear with intricately detailed, white floral lace. The pin-tuck pleating across the bust really sets this pretty piece apart and there is a great deal of hand-finishing to the design. It has three horizontal pin-tucked pleats along the bottom hem alongside scallop-edged lace. The straps are stunning and are made from cream silk that has been plaited.
This slip is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note, increasingly rare for a piece of its age and delicacy. The composition label confirms that it is made from 100% Silk. It does not have a size label so please check our measurements below carefully. The fabric has no stretch to it. We estimate it will fit up to a UK 14 and 16 on the hip. This equates to a US 10-12.
