Description

Great example of a late 1960s British-made wedding dress which is very well crafted - most likely for a high-end bridal boutique or department store of the day. It bears only a small white manufacturer's label, hand-annotated by 'Viviene,' who may have been the seamstress.

The liner fabric is a white faux silk with a fine tulle overlay; panels of ornate baroque-patterned lace are arranged in horizontal bands across the body, creating tonal texture and subtle depth. The long sleeves are made from unlined tulle and lace, giving a soft sheer effect and finished in delicate scalloped cuffs. The silhouette is a graceful column cut, defined at the front by a tonal grosgrain ribbon beneath the bust, finished with a flat bow at the centre. At the back, a larger matching bow anchors a dramatic train of tulle trimmed with white lace, cascading to the floor in romantic folds. The dress fastens at the rear with a concealed tonal zip and hook-and-eye.

This dress is in excellent vintage condition and has been dry-cleaned ready for your big day. If we are being really picky, there are the faintest of marks on the very bottom edge of the hem which can only be seen inspecting closely with the dress in hand. Please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm). She is a size UK 6, US 2 it and this was a little roomy on her. We've also seen this on a UK 8, US 4 and it looked great as she was also a little taller at 5'6".
