1970s Roland Klein Brown Silk Jersey Maxi Dress
Description
This incredibly chic dress was designed by Roland Klein in the 1970s. Having trained under Christian Dior and then Karl Lagerfeld in Paris during the early-1960s, in 1965 Klein went to London where he worked at Marcel Fenez. We believe this piece was designed in the early 1970s. Flatteringly tailored from smooth chocolate coloured silk-jersey, the cloth has a very fluid handle that skims the body and slinks around the wearer as they move. The fabric is generously cut and the flowing bell-sleeves elegantly gathered. The raised collar play to a ‘70s silhouette whilst the low-cut front fastens with fabric-covered buttons and fabric loops and adds delicate femininity to the full-length block colour. This dress is unlined and fastens at the back with a hidden tonal zip and three buttons at the back of the raised collar.
This highly wearable piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws. It has no composition or size labels and vintage sizes vary so please double-check our measurements below. Our model (5ft 11in / 180cm) is a UK 8-10 and this fits her well with room to spare. The fabric has some stretch so please allow for 0.5cm of flexibility on the measurements. We estimate this would suit taller women up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
