Description

French couturier, Hubert de Givenchy, was still at the helm of his eponymous fashion house when this complete ensemble walked the brand’s runway for the spring / summer 1977 ready to wear collection. This two-piece is made up of a navy-blue silk shirt with spaghetti straps, cut-out shoulders and balloon sleeves, paired with a vibrant, emerald green linen skirt with navy trim along the bottom hem. The long, full skirt is weighty and is lined with green silk and navy linen. It is secured at the waist with a tonal green zip and has concealed side pockets. The original label reads “Givenchy Paris” alongside “patron papier” which translates, from the French, to “paper pattern” and identifies it as a licensed copy of a couture piece. Take your lead from the high glamour styling of this look on Givenchy’s ‘70s runway and add a coordinating emerald silk scarf and piles of gold jewellery. Fabulous vintage condition and without fault; a best fit for up to a UK 10 or US 6. Our model (5ft 4in / 163 cm) is a UK 6-8, this ensemble had room to spare on her.
