Description

Founded in 1946 in London, Frank Usher's aim was to bring high-end details and fresh off the runway looks to shoppers at a more affordable price range, whilst not sacrificing quality or cut. This flamboyant dress is tailored from swathes of bright crimson manmade chiffon. Instantly recognisable as from the decade of excess, the ‘80s, it features huge bell-sleeves, a swirling full-skirt and a sensuous open back. The fabric is draped asymmetrically across the torso, creating a highly flattering, cinching silhouette. It fastens under the arm with a hidden tonal zip. There are two polished faceted, red buttons at the cuffs and securing the strap at the back of the neck. We believe this dress to be loosely based on the runway collections from 1985 and have attached a few examples from Yves Saint Laurent's Resort Collection of that year - pictured above in black and white.

This decadent maxi gown is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The outer fabric is 100% polyester and it is fully lined in 100% coordinating acetate. The fabric has no stretch to it. The size on the label states that this is a "UK 12/36" but please double-check the measurements below as vintage sizes run small and this will best fit up to a UK 10 or US 6 in modern sizing.
