Description

This highly collectible and unisex Jean-Charles de Castelbajac coat dates to the mid 1980s. The hooded design is instantly recognisable as JCdC and the designer featured at least one in virtually all his runway collections in over a decade from 1982- 1995. We've attached a number of very close designs here in different patterns circa 1982 - 1985.

This design has an eye-catching tartan or plaid weave in vibrant emerald green and turquoise with stripes of yellow, red and fuchsia. The coat is tailored to an enveloping, wrap-around blanket style, with a wide shawl collar which can be secured with snap closures to form a hood. Two tonal green suede snaps wrap around the edge of the collar, secured with two silver-toned D-rings. At the front of the waist a large drawstring wool belt is secured with two D-rings. The coat has welt pockets trimmed and lined in emerald green suede. Unlined.

In truly excellent archival vintage condition having retained all its vitality. It is labelled 100% Wool and of excellent quality - manufactured in Italy. Due to its oversized nature, the coat would suit a range of sizes up to a UK 16, US 12 and men's sizes medium to large.
