1980s Yves Saint Laurent Plum Velvet Jacket
Description
This elegant velvet jacket was designed by Yves Saint Laurent during the early 1980s and we have attached an editorial shoot of a very similar jacket from the Fall 1981/1982 collection. Made in France, it is crafted from smooth aubergine velvet. The label reads “Saint Laurent Rive Gauche”, a reference to Paris’s younger and trendier left bank. Showcasing the label’s tailoring know-how, it has a panelled construction and is cut to a relaxed elongated silhouette with a slight nipped-in waist. It has a V-neckline and single-breasted, single button closure - adorned with one dark purple plastic button. Each cuff fastens with a single purple button too. It is finished with three patch pockets in the same rich velvet. The notched lapels are curved and the jacket is fully lined with aubergine satin.
This highly wearable jacket is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is made from 70% Cotton, 30% Viscose. It is labelled a size French 34, UK 6 or US 0-2 and the fabric has no stretch.
