1984 Runway Documented Chanel Karl Lagerfeld Tuxedo Dress

1984 runway documented, fall ready-to-wear collection tuxedo dress by Chanel. Effortlessly combining a formal aesthetic with an elegant evening look, the detachable soft cream silk satin collar and cuffs can be removed if desired to alter the impact of the piece. The satin collar gives the illusion of a shirt worn beneath the garment and has a modest round neckline. Once removed, the rounded neck plunges in the centre into a sharp V line to flatter the bust. The fabric is a black silk infused cotton weave and is artfully tailored to fit snugly over the curve of the hip. The dress has two forward facing pockets with 2.5" black satin ribbon trim and a central faux button stand hosting 5 bespoke satin covered buttons with gold gilt embellishment (additionally one on each cuff). A matching band of satin ribbon trim embellishes the cuffs and bust line, consolidating with a central bow just below the point of the neckline. There is a concealed central button stand at the reverse with additional popper fastenings to ensure the seamless appearance of the piece. In excellent vintage condition; would best fit US size 4-6, UK size 8-10. Please note the sizing label has been cut out.
