1990s Katharine Hamnett Viscose Black and Silver Mini Dress
Description
This party-ready mini-dress was designed by iconic British brand Katharine Hamnett during its 1990s heyday. English fashion designer Katharine E. Hamnett founded her namesake label in 1979 and was a founding design member of the British Fashion Council when it began in 1984. Taking its lead from disco dresses of the 1970s, this playful dress is generously cut from a fluid black jersey woven with metallic silver thread which shimmers as it catches the light. It is tailored to sway as the wearer moves; the fabric is ruched and gathered at the shoulders, and cinched at the waist by a wide waistband. The open back has a cowl cut and is secured at the back by a coordinating tie. The dress pulls on over the head and is unlined.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws. It is 95% Viscose, 5% Elastane and labelled a size UK 8, US 4, but please double-check our measurements below. The fabric is stretchy and we think it true to size. Our model is a UK 6 or US 2 and this looks great on her with room to spare.
