Description

This memorable dress walked the runway as part of American designer Isaac Mizrahi's Spring 1992 collection. Mizrahi was known for his ability to make the playful, unexpected elements of his designs feel accessible and wearable. The print was part of a series of blown up florals which appeared on the runway in various dress designs.

This strapless midi dress is tailored from lightweight pure wool in a pale buttery cream, it is printed with a blown-up image of a pale yellow rose. In wonderful up-close detail, the petals of the rose cover the bust and waist and the rich green stalk and leaves travel the length of the skirt. The dress is cut with a bustier top, lined with boning all the way around and a straight-across neckline. The skirt is tailored to a tulip shape, looser at the hips and narrowing down towards the knees. It has a high slit at the rear for ease of movement. The back of this elegant dress fastens with a hidden tonal cream zip and hook-and-eye clasp. It is lined with off-white satin.

This dress is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. It is labelled 100% Pure Wool and an American size 6 but please check the measurements below as this runs small and is better suited to a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 with a small waist. There is no stretch to the fabric.
