Description

You're sure to turn eyes wearing this Max Mara evening gown, circa 2006-2007, just in time for the holiday and awards season. This showstopper of a dress reflects the 2000s Max Mara aesthetic and perfectly encapsulates the 'quiet luxury' trend for timeless investment pieces. It is entirely embellished by hand and adorned allover with 2 types of metallic sequins onto a warm grey mesh. The satin finish lining is visible through the mesh and together with the magnificent arrangement of sequins, provides an elegant multidimensional finish to the dress. A plunging, but not distasteful, halter top secures the dress around the wear's neck for a party ready look. An invisible zipper closes at the middle back of the dress.

In perfect unworn condition and is labelled as a UK 12 or US 10 with all tags attached. Fits true to size. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in (180cm) and this dress fit her well.

Bought for a society wedding but the vendor choose another dress on the day; it has remained in professional storage for over 15 years. Original purchase price was close to £1700 at that time.

Achille Maramotti founded Max Mara in 1951 in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia. The word Mara is his last name shortened and Max chosen to give the brand more international appeal. Max Mara was the first super brand in Italy to manufacture at scale, high-quality, women’s ready to wear clothing. This was a somewhat avant-garde idea in the Italy of the time, where fashion was still an exclusively hand-crafted activity.
