Description
This is a magnificent purple sequin gown by Parisian Atelier Guy Laroche - the exact gown pictured from the Fall/Winter 2007 collection. It has a one shoulder finish, with a V neckline to both front and back, complete with original zip closure and hook and eye fastening. Lined in black silk chiffon, the main fabric of the dress is heavily embellished with a purple geometric sequin design, which catches the light beautifully as it moves. The waist and lower sections of the dress are broken up by black mesh detail, which is slightly transparent. The hem is also made up of the same black mesh fabric, reflecting the panels at the waist. The dress itself has an incredible weight to it and hangs beautifully on the body - it would be perfect for a black tie event, or sophisticated party.

French designer Guy Laroche designed practical, haute couture garments throughout the 1950s up until his death in 1989. By the 2000s, his eponymous brand had taken a new, more modern direction under Damian Yee, who has worked with brands such as Karl Lagerfeld and Gucci, as well as with celebrities like Kylie Minogue and Lenny Kravitz. This particular dress is in fabulous vintage condition, with no marks or faults to note, and would fit up to a statuesque UK size 8-10 or US 4-6. Please note that the dress in unlabelled as this WAS the runway piece and was bought as part of a collection of couture and haute couture museum deaccession pieces.
