2015 Chanel Black Boucle Wool and Gripoix Dress Suit
Description
This fabulous 2015 Fall/Winter Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld black dress suit has a contemporary feel while still retaining the classic signatures of Chanel tailoring. The dress is cut in a simple sheath style which is reminiscent of 60s silhouettes. The top of the rounded neckline is made from a soft black silk, with a large and impressive silver toned, clear gripoix and crystal round brooch detail to the centre. The main body of the dress is cut from a fine boucle wool, with three vertical seams running down the front, and the hem is finished with a wide black silk panel. Both front pockets are fully functioning, and fasten with the same brooch-like detail as the neckline and outer collar of the jacket. The inside is lined in a floral printed black silk with the Chanel signature logo, and the dress fastens with a central zip to the back, and hook and eye closure to the top.
The jacket is cut in a slightly loose shape and open, save for a single hook fastening at the top. It is reminiscent, like the dress, of 60s swing styles. It has a black silk pointed collar, adorned on each side with two more of the brooch-like attachments, which also appear on both of the fully functioning front pockets. The sleeves are wide through the arm and finished with a bold black silk band, complimenting the fabric of the collar. The jacket is lined with the same floral fabric as the dress, making it both comfortable and chic to wear. The edges of the coat and the dress have been left raw and in total there are 7 of the gripoix and crystal embellishments which have been hand stitched, with the largest being on the neckline of the dress.
Both the dress and jacket are in fabulous in vintage condition, with no notable stains or flaws - it looks barely worn. Marked a French 36 which equates to a UK 8-10 or US 2-4 and collection 15B. This is one very impressive ensemble made with the same care and attention as that reserved for the haute couture collections. We estimate conservatively that this ensemble would have cost close to £15k when new.
