Y2K Blumarine Bias Cut Jersey Cream Slip Dress
Description
This dress was designed by Blumarine in the early 2000s and tailored from a patchwork of matte and satin fine knit jerseys in a soft creamy champagne hue. The bias-cut recalls the simple grace of 1930s’ silhouettes, skimming the body and highlighting the wearer's curves. The pretty straps are twisted from strips of satin and matte cloth. The bust is gathered, forming a sweetheart neckline and the back is low and skin-revealing. The dress is unlined except at the bust and top of the back where it is lined in champagne mesh. The gown falls to a floor-sweeping length that only adds to the glamour of the design.
This hyper-feminine, romantic fashion brand was founded in 1977 by husband-and-wife duo, Anna Molinari and Gianpaolo Tarabini. The name Blumarine was inspired by the vivid blue of the sea in Capri. A highly wearable piece in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is made from 80% Rayon, 20% Silk. Tagged an Italian 44, but it runs smaller. Our model (5ft 4in / 164cm) is a UK 6-8 and this fits her well with room to spare. The fabric has some stretch to allow for flexibility on the measurements up to a UK size 8-10 or US 4-6.
