2008 Christian Lacroix Runway Documented Pop Art Print Dress
Description
This exact dress walked the runway, Look 51 of 58, for Christian Lacroix's spring / summer 2008 ready to wear collection. It was one of his last runway shows as his salon shut in 2009 after a glittering 20+ year tenure as one of the greatest French couturiers.
The silhouette is playful and the fabric unusual - signature traits in the French designer’s collectable designs. This dress is tailored from pure silk gauze printed with outlandish patterns in rainbow hues that suggest blown-up florals and abstract paintings. Contrasting panels of black silk make the coloured panels really pop. It is cut to a mini-dress length, the skirt has a panelled construction of clashingly patterned cloths and is cut to hug the hips. The top of the dress has a wide-neckline with a twisted construction and is pinned at the shoulders to add to the deconstructed feel. The back is curved with a ruched neckline and is secured with a hidden tonal black zip. The back of the dress makes the panelled construction apparent; mostly black, it offers hints of the vibrant florals that smother the front. The dress is labelled “Christian Lacroix Paris” in white font on a red label.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is labelled 100% Silk and a French size 38, UK 10 or US 6 and is fairly true to size. The fabric has no stretch.
