Description

This 1930s eye-catching gown is crafted from lamé in a slate grey blue with the glittering silver and gold metallic weave revealing a scrolling, botanical and floral theme. The ankle sweeping bias-cut creates a timeless, body-skimming ’30s silhouette which sweeps into a graceful and flared hem. The back is cut low, adding sensuous detail. The dress has several 3D flower appliques formed from swirls of silver sequins; the larger one with the addition of clear bugle beads. It is unlined and can easily be worn over modern undergarments or a silk slip for extra comfort.

This beautiful antique dress is in excellent condition over all; there are inevitably some areas where the lame fabric has tarnished due to age. These areas have darkened to a gentle copper hue which does not affect the dress in any way and blends quite seamlessly in with the metallics. The sequinned appliques are a later addition but are at least as old as the dress and we peeked underneath them. They are covering darker patches of tarnish rather than wear to the lame and so could be removed if desired. We love the placement though and would add more appliques if we could! There are no labels present but this is very well manufactured, with intricate panelling and is robust and wearable.

Please check our measurements closely below as the fabric, although bias-cut, does not have any stretch to it. We estimate the dress will fit a range of sizes up to a UK 10 or US 6.
