Description

This vibrant maxi gown walked the runway for Christian Dior’s Fall 2001 show and was Look 38 of 51. Designed by Creative Director at the time, John Galliano, and made in France, it flows to the ground, cinched by a wide waistband that sits on the hips and adds a swishy, sashaying feel to the movement of the skirt. The blown-up print recalls retro 1970s styles, showcasing white daisies with swirling stalks against a purple, green and pink background. Detailed with metallic silver thread and silver sequins, these florals glimmer as they catch the light. Cut to a t-shirt style at the top, the rear reveals a dramatic cut-out that falls to the very bottom of the back and is detailed with two ties, one of pink silk and one of blue. The top fastens with a pink silk-covered button at the back of the neck and the skirt is secured with two hidden snap closures and four ties crafted using intricately woven, pale pink and moss green ribbon - the level of craftsmanship and detail expected from this venerated fashion house. The skirt is fully lined in white silk.

Presented in excellent, archival vintage condition, this dress looks barely worn with no issues noted. The composition label reads 100% Silk and states that the lining is 100% Silk. The size label states UK 10, US 6, but sizes vary between brands so please check the measurements below carefully.
