Description

Made in England, this playful summer dress was designed by Gina Fratini in the mid to late 1980s, making this was of the last designs of her career. Gina was renowned for her romantic and luxury take on 'Victoriana' during the late 1960s all the way through the 1970s. Elizabeth Taylor famously chose a medieval style gown for her second marriage to Richard Burton and she was very popular with Diana, Princess of Wales.

This dress is tailored from crisp cotton woven with a raised, textured brocade that forms cloud like patterns across the cloth. Printed across the brocade are vibrant florals; trumpets lilies in lilac and coral, vines and grasses in deep sage green and a multitude of orange, coral and pink blooms. The dress is cut to a typically 1980s midi silhouette with a multi-layered ra-ra skirt and fitted bodice. The bodice is boned the whole way around, shaping the body and providing structure. The bust is trimmed with a frivolous ruffle the whole way around the body. The dress has delicate spaghetti straps in the same floral cotton fabric. It fastens at the back with a hidden white zip and hook-and-eye clasp. The dress is lined with ivory satin.

This dress is in wonderful vintage condition, with no stains or flaws of any note. It is made from 100% Cotton with no stretch, and is labelled a size UK 8, US 6. However, the measurements are tiny in relation to modern sizing and will only fit a size UK 4-6 or US 0-2.
