Description

This impressive maxi-skirt was bespoke made by Tatters of London in the early 1990s. They had a shop on the Kings Road in London, which was the place to go for bespoke bridal and evening wear. It was frequented by High Society and the 'Sloane Rangers' as the designs were tasteful and the quality and workmanship second to none. The most famous 'Ranger' was Princess Diana and the designs were often featured in the fashion editorials and society wedding pages printed in Tatler and Vogue.

A weighty, intricately-constructed skirt with the outer layer composed of a stiff silk jacquard patterned with an opulent heraldic print in sapphire blue, emerald green, golden yellow and ruby red. The pattern is detailed with crowns highlighted with metallic gold thread that catches the light. It has a thick waistband which gives way to wide pleats which fall softly down the length of the voluminous skirt to the ankles. Four layers of tulle ensure this skirt holds its very full shape. Under the layers of tulle, it is fully lined with cream satin to ensure a comfortable wear. The original label reads “Tatters London” in gold font on cream cloth. It fastens at the back with three large hook-and-eye clasps in the waistband and a hidden zip down the skirt.

In fabulous vintage condition, with no flaws of any note and was worn just once on our client's wedding day. Like many couture made pieces, it does not have a composition or size label. Should fit around a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 but do check your waist and hip measurements to ensure a good fit.
