Description

This vibrant 1990s Christian Lacroix lime-green tartan jacket may be from the spring 1993 collection as a very similar look walked the runway pictured here. During this decade, Christian Lacroix stood in bold opposition to prevailing minimalism, championing theatrical colour, baroque detailing, and exuberant pattern mixing. Drawing on Spanish, Provençal, and 18th-century influences, Lacroix infused couture drama into ready-to-wear, creating pieces that were unapologetically expressive.

Showcasing Lacroix’s signature bold use of colour, the jacket has wide, curved lapels and chunky flap pockets set at the hips. The turned-up cuffs, a hallmark of the designer, reveal contrast striped cotton in violet, navy, lime and yellow, with the same striped fabric also lining the lapels. The front closes with a single oversized button made from lime-yellow translucent plastic, encasing what appears to be petals.

The jacket is fully lined in silk printed with a mix of clashing tartans, reinforcing Lacroix’s playful, maximalist aesthetic. The jacket is in excellent condition with no issues noted and the colours very fresh looking. It is labelled a French 38, UK 10 or US 6 and the fabric has no stretch.
