Description
Phenomenal and original rayon crepe wedding dress, couture made in France around 1937 - 1940. Made from fine woven medium weight rayon crepe in ivory white which reaches to the floor. The illusion bodice is designed to look like a jacket is overlaying the dress but is in fact expertly tailored with the addition of a stitched ruched band outlining the shape of a bolero. The sleeve shape is in the desirable Hollywood regency style - a seamed short sleeve tapered puff whilst from the darted waist band falls a long sweeping a-line skirt with deep flounce. This flounce echoes the ruched banding around the bodice and back of the waist band. The dress is accessed through a series of hook and eyes and poppers on the left inside seam and waist band. Unlabelled French couture.

Condition wise, this is as good as it gets from this era and for a dress approaching 85 years old. We have fully restored and cleaned the dress and she is without fault. Best fit for an extra small, UK 6 or US 0-2.
