Love Suit Harris Tweed, A/W 1986–1992 ‘Love Jacket’ by Vivienne Westwood

The Love Jacket is one of Vivienne Westwood’s most iconic signature designs. First introduced in the Harris Tweed collection (Autumn/Winter 1986), she continued to feature it until the Always On Camera collection in 1992, which won the British Fashion Award. After this period, the original design of the Love Jacket was never reproduced.

This piece is made from 100% Barathea wool—a high-quality wool traditionally used in uniforms and equestrian wear.

Production levels of Westwood garments during the late 1980s to early 1990s were extremely limited, making an authentic Love Jacket increasingly difficult to find.

This is a rare and collectable piece, most recently exhibited at both the V&A Museum (Victoria & Albert, UK) and Christie’s UK.

The jacket is in excellent condition. The lining has been professionally replaced by a skilled tailor using satin/silk material that closely matches the original, ensuring quality and comfort. There are no underarm marks, and the exterior is pristine.

One internal label is missing—removed during relining, as the tailor deemed it non-essential. All other original and important labels are intact. A small white thread signature by the tailor is discreetly stitched on the bottom right inside the jacket and can easily be removed. There is a tiny hole on the right sleeve (see picture), which is minor and easily repairable.
