Description

This beautiful, highly romantic dress was couture made in the 1930s for a high society event and is British or French made. Gowns of this era are extremely collectable, particularly when they’re in such rare excellent condition and this piece is in a particularly exquisite and unusual colour. Of a floor-skimming length with a train that flows behind it, this piece is crafted from the most incredible fabric; a shimmering chartreuse green silk jacquard woven with florals and foliage, the intricate detailing casting them in shades of yellow-green as they catch the light. The neckline is a gentle V-shape that falls from thick straps that are prettily pleated. They are detailed with two glittering rows of rhinestones that have been attached as embellishment. The silhouette follows the curves of the body, nipping in at the waist before giving way to the generous cascading fabric of the skirt. The back of the dress is particularly attention-grabbing, with the wide sleeves giving way to a low cowl-back generously cut to sweep across the lower back. This dress fastens under the arm with hidden snap closures.

In excellent antique condition with no flaws of any note, and is sturdy and wearable. Due to its age, it has no size or composition label so please check the measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We estimate a good fit for around a UK size 10 or US 6.
