Description

This exquisite Andrea Wilkin 1970s fantasy bridal gown in soft ivory exudes femininity and is in wonderful condition. Layers of silk fabric are beautifully arranged to create the classical romantic look reminiscent of the Edwardian era for which this designer is so well renowned. The fabric on the bodice is gently rushed and tailored form a cross over look embellished with a delicate frill that runs the length of the gentle V neckline. The reverse of the bodice is skillfully arranged so that the fabric crosses at the mid back and fastens at an angle with a series of dainty silk covered buttons to the left of the waistline. The shoulders are embellished with silk frill and netted lace that continues around the back following the line of the fabric. The bodice is fully lined in silk satin. The skirt is designed with an opulent multi layered effect. The delicate petticoat has double layer of silk fabric the underlay finishing in a 12" band of stiff netting at the hem to enhance movement and not visible when worn. The upper layer of the petticoat has a lengthy tier of fine pleats revealed as the thick silk overlay of the skirt falls open at the front in a gentle curve and trimmed with lace frill and tiny pearlescent beads. There is a further overlay in soft lace net that crosses over beneath the waistline to consolidate the gentle angles on the bodice.
