1960s David Henry Fuchsia Irish Mohair Coat
Description
This vibrant coat was made in Dublin, Ireland, by David Henry in the late 1960s. Tailored to below knee-length, it is woven from a mid-weight fuchsia pink mohair and wool blend giving it a fluffy, textured feel. The coat has an open-front and is secured by a thick fuchsia mohair belt that attaches through tonal belt loops on the sides of the waist. The jacket has an open-collar. It is detailed with two patch pockets at the hips. Beautifully made, it is lined in tonal fuchsia satin throughout for a luxurious, comfortable wear. The label reads “David Henry of Dublin” in silver thread against black cloth.
In excellent vintage condition, we noted a very small smudge on the inside of the lining which is barely noticeable. Made from 70% Wool, 30% Mohair, it will fit a range of sizes up to a UK 12-14 or US 8-10. The Circa team all tried this on and loved the fit which is oversized on a UK 8 or US 4. With broader shoulders, you could be up to 5'5" or around 5'7" if a narrower frame as the dolman sleeves are shaped from the collar. There is plenty of fabric folded up in the sleeves to make adjustments although to note, the sleeve lining is only 3/4 length.
