Description

Made in Italy, this elegant Alexander McQueen jacket is from the late designer's Fall 2003 collection and walked the runway as Look 30 of 58. According to the Vogue review, “the clothes, sculpted into his signature, nip-waist, stiff A-line skirt silhouette, exhibited all the intense craft and some of the shapes that he learned during his stint at Givenchy couture.” Tailored from stiff black silk with a hint of cotton, it has a sheen to it that, up close, it is revealed to be detailed with horizontal tonal stripes and a subtle moiré ripple to it. The silhouette draws inspiration from kimono shapes with its wide sleeves and elegant high neckline. The draping is magnificent, constructed as only McQueen could; note the subtle hint of Gothicism and the cerebral draping and pleating that creates a feminine silhouette with a slight nipped-waist. The front has hidden tonal black snap closures and an elongated placket on one side that hangs lower than the bottom hem. The jacket is unlined. There is a silver-tone metal hanging chain inside the collar adorned with a plaque that is engraved with the brand logo.

This jacket is in excellent archival vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is labelled a size Italian 42, UK 10 or US 6. It is 95% Silk, 5% Cotton. The fabric has no stretch.
