1930s or 1940s Floral Burgundy Crepe Dress
Description
Very late 1930s to early 1940s floral print burgundy textured crepe dress. Old Hollywood full-length style with a fitted and inverted T shaped bodice and wide waist band with a flared skirt. It has a high round neck and dainty puffed three-quarter length sleeves that have a ruched cuff. On either side of the waist are almost floor length ties and these can wrap around the dress; we have styled in a long bow to the rear. Has a series of hook and eyes to the side and four fabric covered looped buttons at the neckline for access.
The dress has sewn-in cotton sweat guards and these have helped preserve the condition which is truly excellent with no issues noted. It is not labelled and could be a very good dressmaker piece; it is certainly by a professional hand rather than homemade. If we are being picky, the fabric is starting to wear a little bit thin on one of the buttons but otherwise she's holding up exceptionally well and a good fit for sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
