Description

This shirt dress was designed by Peter Barron in London in the 1960s. It has a timeless shirt-dress silhouette with a nipped-in waist and button-down front. Drawing on elements of classic French workwear, it is cut from thick blue cotton, with wide lapels and patch pockets at the chest with button-down flap closures. The front fastens with polished plastic buttons which have an ombré blue finish, and the sleeves end in gathered cuffs which are fastened with coordinating buttons. Adding a traditionally feminine edge, the full skirt is pleated the whole way around and swirls out around the wearer as they walk. This dress is unlined.

This shirt dress is in truly excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note and very fresh looking. Due to its age, it has no composition or size label so please check our measurements carefully. There is no stretch to the cotton fabric. The dress was a good fit on our model who is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in (180 cm) so we suggest a good fit for up to a UK 10 or US 6.
