Cavanagh's 1950s Crimson Silk Satin Cropped Beaded Evening Jacket

This charming 1950s silk cropped evening jacket with beaded embellishments bears the label of Cavanagh's of St Thomas, Virgin Islands, which would have been the go-to boutique for this glamorous destination spot during this era. The waist-length jacket is of luxurious silk satin in deep crimson, and is beautifully embellished with pearlescent and rocaille beads in a simple design reminiscent of flowers or shells. Beaded tassels are used to trim the hem of the jacket as well as the cuffs elbow length sleeves. This piece has an open neckline with a peak lapel and 2 hook and eye fastenings at the centre-front just above the waist. The shoulders each have a single gather at the reverse. In wonderful vintage condition and fully lined, would best fit size large or US sizes 10 -12.
