2015 Christian Dior Navy Swing Waistcoat with Fuchsia Embroidery

Made in Italy, this beautiful elongated waistcoat was designed by Raf Simons as part of Christian Dior’s Spring 2015 collection (a similar piece was seen in look 25/50 and look 34/50). The runway version also featured in one of the campaign shots for the season. The Vogue review highlighted Simons’ ability to tie the past with the present, particularly noting the gilet silhouettes on the runway and stating that they “referenced an 18th-century court cout, which evoked the historicism of Christian Dior’s original Bar silhouette”. Tailored from navy wool, it has a sleeveless cut with an elegant waterfall front that hangs open at the collar. It has a single closure which ties with a thick black grosgrain ribbon. It has an A-line silhouette which results in a playful flippy hemline that ripples around the body. The stand-out detailing of this piece is the fuchsia embroidery that climbs the right side of the chest and up over the collar; exquisitely detailed, it features a variety of blooms, vines and pretty repeating patterns which recall the embroidery of ancient Asian textiles and chintzy patterns formed across antique porcelain.

This beautiful waistcoat is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note - it looks barely worn. It has no size or composition label remaining so please check our measurements below. The fabric has a tiny bit of stretch so please add a small degree of leeway to the below measurements. We suggest a best fit for a UK 8-10 or US 4-6.
