1960 Hermès Red “Cadre Noir” by G. Margot 90cm Silk Twill Scarf
Description
Hermès scarves, first introduced in 1937, have become iconic symbols of French luxury and craftsmanship, celebrated for their exquisite silk, hand-rolled edges, and artful prints that reflect both heritage and timeless elegance. All Hermès scarves are made in France and have hand-rolled edges.
This rare 1990 "Cadre Noir" vintage Hermès silk twill scarf was designed by G. Margot. The Cadre Noir scarf pays homage to the prestigious and elite teachers of the French National Riding School, the École Nationale d’Équitation at Saumur, founded in 1828 and still in existence today. Cadre Noir received its name from the black uniforms worn by their instructors. The École Nationale d’Équitation is considered to be one of the most prestigious horsemanship schools in the world.
This scarf was first issued in 1960 and reissued in 1990. This re-issue scarf in a red colourway is in excellent vintage condition with no issues. No box but can be supplied in a plain black box.
