Description

This midi-dress is classic Rumak, the bohemian London boutique that reached peak popularity during the 1970s and emulated the style and certainly the quality of celebrated British designer Thea Porter.

Crafted from flowing floral silk chiffon with a light crinkle texture, this dress is detailed all-over with Rumak’s signature ribbonwork. The colours of the floral cloth are picked out in lime green, coral, navy and aubergine ribbon that frames the cuffs, neckline and Rumak’s trademark moire bibbed front and back. Strands of ribbon fall from the waist and swirl around the wearer as they walk. The front fastens with navy fabric-covered buttons and floral chiffon fabric loops. The cuffs are finished with ruffles and, alongside the ribbonwork, are detailed with coral satin trim. The dress is lined with violet toned satin throughout the body but has sheer sleeves.

This piece presents beautifully and is in very good to excellent vintage condition with the following notes: the acetate lining has a mottled appearance, notably more so at the underarms due to age and will have been a darker or even navy shade originally. This happens to all acetate lining of this age and colour due to the dyes used at the time and cannot be seen when worn. There is no fabric or size label so please check our measurements closely below as the fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model (5ft 4in / 163cm) is a UK 6-8 or US 2-4 and this dress was a snug fit.
