1950s Jonelle Orange Rose Print Cotton Maxi Dress
Description
Founded in 1937, “Jonelle” was the trade name of textiles created by Cavendish Textiles and was a quality affair with fabric supplied to the top department stores and fashion houses of the era. This vivacious dress flaunts a signature 1950s’ silhouette with its full flared skirt, straight neckline and thick straps. Secured at the back with hidden snap closures, a wide pleated belt in coordinating orange cinches the waist and emphasises the wearer’s curves, a hugely popular detail on dresses from this era. This breezy, full length gown is fully lined in thick, white cotton and closes at the rear with a hidden zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
These bright, blown-up floral prints were favoured by many high society ladies for their summer attire and the clashing tangerine orange and rich green foliage of the rose print makes this a memorable option for a summer event. In excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note, the fabric retains its crispness and brightness. A good fit for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8. Shown on our model size UK 6-8 (5ft 4in / 163 cm), this dress was roomy on her.
