1960s Marldena Floral Strapless Dress
Description
This pretty dress was designed by Marldena in the late 1950s, early 1960s and would be perfect for a formal event or party. The generously cut fabric is sheer lilac manmade chiffon, printed with tulips rendered in stunning abstract brushstrokes of white, lime-green, cobalt-blue and purple. The top is corseted - boned the whole way around and cut to a strapless style. This gives a cinched-waist silhouette to the wearer and contrasts the full skirt. The dress is fully lined in rich purple satin and fastens under the arm with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. The adaptable strap on this dress makes it a truly eye-catching piece; cut from a layer of coordinating, frothy chiffon, it sweeps across the bodice and ties in a knot at the bust. It can be attached with an asymmetric strap across the back and down over the front.
This dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. The original label reads “Marldena Model”. Due to its age, it has no composition or size label so please check our measurements below. The fabric has no stretch. We estimate a good fit for a UK size 8 or US 4.
