1968 Documented Celine Dark Brown Horse Bit Belt with Box

This old Céline belt is an early example of its type with this design first documented in 1968 and featuring heavily in the advertising campaigns for bags and shoes that year. We have attached an identical editorial example from the same year.

The belt is crafted from polished leather in rich chocolate brown with a reverse of tan leather, and features the brand's iconic horse-bit fastening in gold-toned metal. The metal is embossed with the brand name in capital letters on the horse-bit. The inside of the leather is stamped with the brand name, logo and 'Made in Italy' at the rear. It comes complete with the rare and original surviving box - a small red cylindrical example embossed with the brand logo and finished with a logo ribbon strap. This belt is superb vintage condition with no cracks or marks to the leather, we noted a miniscule amount of discolouring to the metal at the clasp. Suitable for a size small.
