Description

This late 1960s to early 1970s tunic has the original label which reads “Diorling by Christian Dior - London” in elaborate embroidered calligraphy and it is numbered. Crafted from stiff, rich cream wool, this playful piece is patterned with geometric forms in bronze, champagne and gold metallic thread that scatter like falling leaves around the neckline, down the front of the tunic and along the bottom hem. It is a collarless, straight-cut design, deceptive in its simplicity, as it demonstrates the flawless tailoring that the House of Dior is so well known for. This cover-up comes with a tonal, double-layered rope belt which is finished with a decadent spiral of gold-tone metal. This piece is fully lined with tonal satin.

Due to its age, this piece doesn't have a composition or size label so please check our measurements below; the fabric has no stretch to it. In excellent vintage condition with the following notes: small moth graze on front and one tiny pin hole. These two very minor issues cannot be seen when worn. Our model (5ft 4in / 163cm) is a UK 6-8 or US 2-4 and the tunic fit her well with quite a closed look. Depending on how you want to style the tunic it should fit sizes up to a US 6 or UK 10.

Notes on Designer (Courtesy of the VAM, London):

The Diorling label was launched at the Christian Dior London boutique on Conduit Street in March 1968. Designed by Dior London head designer Jorn Langberg, the collection consisted of ready-to-wear garments aimed at a young clientele. Pieces under this label stopped being produced in 1973.
