Description
This is exceptional 1970s haute couture and a Parisienne take on the Studio 54 vibe that heavily influenced evening wear styles of the period. This jersey dress and jacket set is without its label but was entirely handmade in France. It is reminiscent of work by Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent and Louis Feraud but we have not been able to attribute the workshop. Other dresses that belonged to the lady from this consignment lot that have now sold, were labelled Haute Couture Louis Feraud.

The strapless dress has a ribbed jersey bodice and flared skirt with a ribbed flounce. The jacket sleeves also have this ribbed fabric and are gathered into a bell sleeve with a button cuff. The jacket is collared and designed to sit at the waist. The bodice is lined in a silk crepe and the skirt section has a quality acetate under skirt that is attached at the waistband. The dress fastens to the rear with the original couture zip.

Although sold as a set, both pieces would look absolutely fabulous worn separately and styled with contemporary pieces. The ensemble is in fabulous vintage condition. On close inspection, we note one very small mark on the left-hand ribbed sleeve of the jacket, quite close to the armpit. Will fit up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
