1970s Harry Algo Printed Green & White Silk Chiffon Dress With Ruffle Neckline
Description
This charming 1970s dress is labelled Harry Algo, Paris. Harry Algo was a French manufacturer of high quality ready to wear designs based on haute couture designs, but at affordable prices for high end department stores in foreign markets such as Harrods and Saks 5th Avenue. In seafoam green and white, printed silk chiffon, the dress is cut to a simple shift silhouette, with darting below the bust and a neatly cinched waistline. There is a broad scoop neckline both front and reverse embellished with a delicate, pleated chiffon ruffle trim. This ruffle echoes the double layer of pleated chiffon that makes up the floaty angle-length skirt. The bishop-style sleeves are a single layer of sheer chiffon with broad cuffs that fasten with concealed popper fastenings. There is a belt feature in matching ruched chiffon that secures at the reverse with hook-and-eye fastenings. There is a concealed zip fastening at the centre reverse and the bodice is lined in pale sateen fabric. This lovely dress would be perfect for weddings and summer parties.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. Due to its age, it has no size or composition label. We believe it would fit up to a US size 10, UK 14. The fabric has no stretch.
