Description
Rare 1970s André Courrèges turquoise maxi dress complete with low back and bow strap detail.
Courreges was already a fashion design superstar when his haute couture version of this dress was photographed in French Vogue, September 1971. Sharp A-line tailoring and clean lines are synonymous with the designer who had worked for Balenciaga during the previous decade.

The dress features a high square neck, fitted bodice and long A-line maxi skirt which streamlines and elongates the body. The front has two seam details to the hip, and the back features a low scoop with four rows of delicate straps running horizontally across. The material is crafted from a soft polyblend which has a gentle stretch to it, and it fastens to the side with the original concealed zip. The lining is an equally soft nylon blend, which, though not noticeable when worn, has a very slight pink tinge to it which has happened with age. Otherwise, the dress is in great vintage condition, with only a couple of very faint pinhead marks near the bottom hem. One for the connoisseur or collector of fine vintage fashion with the bonus of it being very wearable. Our model, a UK size 8-10, US 4-6, said she felt fantastic wearing this and it was a good fit.
