Description

This rare men's Céline shirt was designed by the brand in the 1970s. After launching in 1945 as a children’s shoe designer, in the 1960s Céline expanded to include a sportswear-focused ready-to-wear line and a range of leather goods. This shirt is an early piece and could be considered unisex. Tailored from white jersey cotton, it is printed all-over with sketchy jockey jerseys and riding hats in a range of autumnal hues. The print is broken up with the brand name written between the jockey jerseys in a painterly manner. This collectable shirt has a wide-lapelled collar, so emblematic of ‘70s design, and a laid-back straight cut. The front is secured with mother-of-pearl buttons, and the gathered cuffs are each finished with two mother-of-pearl buttons.

The composition label states that it is 100% Cotton and made in Italy. The fabric has some stretch which allows for about 0.5cm of flexibility on the measurements. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in. (180 cm) and this shirt was a good fit on her with a little room to spare. Labelled a EU mens 48, UK 38. May fit up to a UK mens 39/40 as reasonably generous. The condition is very good verging on excellent; very faint underarm halo on the left armpit and you would have to look very close to see it.
